Agree if you have cams use them, If there in there leave them they are making power in most cases , AGAIN my point is I dont feel they make enough HP worth the cost , If you feel you need more power turn up the boost

I realize I'm entering this thread a little late.....

I understand what Tom is saying...if you don't have performance cams then save your money and run more boost end of story, if you already have them then keep them and move on...either way you achieve the same results. Unfortunately I am probably like some others here in that I never intended to go FI, I was going to stick with N/A all the way, that would be enough for me. Boy was I wrong, now I'm looking at the PW and thinking that would feel pretty good under the hood. My question regarding the cam issue is that now that I have the FR2's is it ok to use them with the PW? On a side note and my apologies if this is considered thread jacking but I have the FR head as well decked .040 (compression 10.5:1) is that ok as well to use with the PW?

with that compression I hope you have forged internals or PW will blow your motor. It will put you in the 250 hp range. What are you going to do about your trans ATX

I don't but that is why I was asking if that was do'able or not with that compression and cam set-up. If it's not then what would need to change? As far as the ATX...maybe I'm not understanding it correctly but I was under the impression that PW had a set-up that would not require building up the transmission. That was always my hang-up before...it's not that I don't have the money to put into it it's whether I WANT to put that much money into it. I mean PW and ATX build....hmmmm tempting but I just don't know.

the powerworks atx the shift points and pressures are changed to help the trans last longer I would still up grade it.I would contact PW and ask them if I were you.Why not turbo charge it a good tuner can adjust your trans with a tune also.

The cams will work fine dont change them.

What turbo would you recommend? With the turbo the FR head and cams would still be OK?

Bump...

What are the opinions about stock SVT cams (on the svt head) when going towards the 500+ hp mark using a turbo? While keeping the TQ near 1:1 or more. Would cutsom grinds have to made then?

That's what Im thinking too. I'd like to run in the high 300s for daily, and then when I want to up the anty, then 400-500+ for fun!

I know the SVT cams are aggressive as is, with a 415* lift (if I remember correctly)

After reading through this and other posts, does anyone have any recommendations for my setup? I have the Powerworks S/C, 4-2-1 header and MBRP exhaust and have a ported head (not installed yet) and three sets of cams-Crane St.2, Crower St. 2 and stock cams. The good folks at Mahle Powertrain recommended I go back to stock cams with their ECU re-flash. I can't wrap my head around stock cams being better than aftermarket cams but maybe someone with more experience can help me out. With the above setup and adding the head which cams should I choose? thanks for any advice anyone can give me.
