All Wheel Drive conversion?

I was wanting to know if there would be anyone that would know if there is an awd conversion for the focus. I want to make my focus awd. I really love my car and i can't wait to make it awd. Heard about them but have found noting on them. Any help would be nice thanks

It's been discussed in the past, but the topics are old and probably hard to find. Here's the condensed version of what I recall:

The WRC Focus uses a one-off system (designed by Subaru I think?) which costs several hundred thousand dollars.

It is possible you could work it using a Jaguar X-type IRS hooked up to a Zetec Ford Escape AWD drivetrain; there was somebody here trying to do just this, there hasnt been an update in something like a year.

I've always wondered if a C1-chassis Volvo AWD drivetrain could transplant, but somehow I'm extremely skeptical.

The consensus is that an expensive and complicated RWD V8 swap is both easier and cheaper than undertaking an AWD Focus. Sorry mate.

if you want AWD you might want to look into a Subaru... this swap would take alot of $$$, time and ingenuity to make it work and be reliably functional.

+1 for too expensive. IIRC you could use a Volvo manual box with the Haldex system. But you're still dealing with poo poo Haldex "AWD" and are going to be doing a LOT of custom fabrication at the rear of the car. I don't know about you, but I know NOTHING about suspension geometry that would allow me to build something like this.

Was so disappointed when Audi ditched Torsen for Haldex.

I knew it would be exspensive and a lot of custom fabrication. My thing is i want one that well is mine and a one of a kind. I am going to wyotech and i am in the Chassis Fabrication course and then street rod which really wouldn't help me tons on the focus but they do teach a lot about awd and all that great stuff plus I am up for a challenege. I would like a subi but everyone and there brothers have one and are souping them up so to have something unique is more of my fitting. Thanks for the help but if ya'll hear of anything let me know and i will do my best to find out what i can in the mean time i will be looking hard into swaps of drivelines for awd and everything. Thanks again and let me know what ya'll find out.

No one is really going to notice or care that you have AWD.. and what really are you going to use the AWD for?

Just go for a subaru

itd be cool, cuz yea be very rare, thats for sure, but i say just enjoy your focus, make it go fast and have fun with it, the project is gonan cost a lot of money and halfway through you will realize this and ditch it and be out a few bucks, so either get a subbie or another awd, best bet is to import the st over here, its awd i believe

hey if you really want to do it go for it and then you could tell us how it went so we actually have some figures on cost difficulty and then how the car preforms after u have done it

If not import an ST
