exactly. im gonna pass on the SC and the rebuild kit will cost about $300 plus the engine is missing an alternator, it has a hole in the oil pan, and the es at the junkyard broke the engine mount (actually they cut it with an acetalene torch to get the engine free). let alone a flywheel, clutch, shift rods, and lots of other fun MTX stuff.

SVT Contour ECU on left, Focus ECU on right.

there she be. APGEcho is directly behind the engine in the blue shirt lol.

thumbs up for + 2 cylinders, + 0.5L, and - 20lbs!

the powered by SVT emblem is gone :( i'll go ebay a new one.

almost its current state. all of the cams have been taken out. we're just trying to get the GD crank pulley to come off so the timing cover can come off, so the heads can come off.

get to work!

look like fun.

maybe I will buy an 2000 and make a SHOcus out of my 91. Its body is ailing but the motor threw down 185 hp to the wheels. not bad for an un maintained and 150k mileage motor that was rated 220 Crank HP.

15% drive train loss aint to bad in my book.

oh well dude I wish I was there to help. I need to get up to Michigan to visit my friends in dearborn Heights.

all are welcome. just send me a PM first and i'll give you my cell number and you can come check it out. and btw, SHOcus = totally custom. no happy easy drop in. the mounts and EVERYTHING are different cause of the totally different bodys. just thought i'd point that out. and the 2.5 is plenty engine for such a light car (and getting lighter) and thanks for the compliment NikiterZTS. the reason why this is so easy is because of the Focus being the Contours replacement. of course, why dont we get the 2.5L? because Ford will never make a car that can roll off the line and give a Mustang a run for its money in a straight line.

i'll make sure to keep you guys posted. tomorrow starts the wiring insanity. and the rest of engine disassembly of course.

15% drivetrain lost is good in my book. Has for that SVT you should really try and get a short block duratec out of a tarus the svt top end will bolt right on. there is no replacement for displacement. Keep the thread updated and use lost and lost of pics cause everybody here likes pics.

so just let me get this clear.....are the engine mounts the same as for Zetec engine?....so just pretty much drop it and go type of a thing?....sorry its too late right now for me to read the whole thread....so just bare with me....by the way i've seen the ugliest SVTC today getting E-tested when i was gettin my oil changed....it had a nice paint job, drop and rims but that 5 feet high spoiler and that fugly air scoop killed it for me....i'll try to look it up on Countour sites

let me put it this way to make it easiest to understand.

the Contour was manufactured 95-00 and was available with 2(technically 3) engines:
the 2.0L Zetec (almost the exact same as in a Focus some internals may have changed)
and the 2.5L Duratec (and the SVT Duratec if you consider it a different engine)

in short, yes. the Zetec and Duratec were designed to sit in the same engine bay, and their mounts are identical. the bellhousing mount on the trans is probably different. seeing as how the only difference between the V6 and the I4 MTX-75's is the bellhousing. anywho, hope i made it crystal clear :)

and yes, pics will be in great supply. i always take my camera with me to the garage.
