^That would explain why the welds are so ugly, it's almost impossible to get a good looking weld out of flux core. But it should hold. I've burned up miles of that crap and nothing has snapped a bead yet (knock on wood!).

Looking good, hope You get those gremlins out soon!

Ahhh....the light at the end of the tunnel.... that's not a train, is it?

Don't have much of a choice here. He starts classes on Monday and the car doesn't do anything when we turn the key. Were thinking it might just be a bad ecu straight up. not time to get another one. Even if we spent all day getting the motor running today he still won't be able to drive out there and make it to school on time. Besides becuase of the time crunch we started to rig things up kinda janky. I think he's making a smart decision. Take the time to actually diagnose the problem and fix it properly rather than just rigging something up to 'make it work' Don't worry this will run eventually

If I am thinking right, tell me if this is what Brian plans.

Focus ECU runs interior lights and BS along with the exterior lights, turns, radio, blah blah blah.

Contour ECU runs the motor, fuel pump, trans, clutch, driveing sorta things?

I think what might work is this....

Run the key via the Focus ECU, let it use the PATS that is in the key and the ECU that ran the focus. Then have that signal the ECU on the contour to fire up the motor.

Another thing that might work is getting a bypass divice like my car runs for my remote start for the contour ECU.

Also both ECU's need to be signaled by the Ignition for them to work, with constant power you will kill what is left of your battery.

That could be another issue there. the Focus ECU wasn't even hooked up to the car at all when we tried to start it up. only the countour one was. What you said makes sense to me though

the focus ECU isn't hooked up because it doesnt control anything of use with the Contour one hooked up...

the body controller and fuse box are in control of lighting...

and PATS isn't so simple... the right ECU (Contour) has to receive the right code in order to allow the motor to turn over.

so i cant dual rig the ECUs it would serve no purpose..

and brad i disconnected the focus one because i had already hooked up all the wires to the contour one.. altho i know where you're coming from.
