woke up just a bit ago, hanging out with the gf.

then Deb time! gonna get one of my roomies to jump Deb so she'll start and then i'll tune her idle while she's running so she charges up her battery a bit.

ok, so finally about to get off my arse and get back to working on deb.

but first:



i was doing some light reading while eating my lunch and noticed that the Duratec 25 (or D25, the motor in Deb) was ALSO in the Jaguar X-type (those of you who've been reading the giant AWD conversion thread know where this is going) the X-type orginally was AWD, and had the same motor....

hmm.... a turbo'd AWD Focus? yes please!!!!

gotta get her running first and look into it some more, but if it works i just might shit a brick.

but anywho, that's wayyyy down the line, time to get Deb to idle properly.

Boss man i think i could come in on that.... Remember i WAS thinking of it for a very long time but using the d30 variant.

Its a lot of fab work (trans mounts in the same place and all) for the rest of the driveline, and i believe the awd is a viscous coupling type... Manufactured by haldex. Id suggest if you try it, look into 2.5 escape awd platforms...

Edit: be aware the drive line on the jag actually spins the opposite direction so most differentials would leave you trying to go into reverse in back and forwards in front.

ya i read up on that one a while ago it seems like you are pretty stuck with the jag diff but it should work.. i dont think anyone ended up trying it though

sooo....

Deb doesn't want to start anymore...

the only things that have changed are:
it's warmer outside
and i hooked up the alternator.

and i figure if she was running lean when it was cooler maybe she's running really lean now???

idk. but i'm gonna give everything some time to air out and cool down and whatnot and i'm gonna give it a try in a bit.

bummer, I follow along whenever you post, waiting and watching and to give words of encouragement. You'll get her started again, the weather has changed and she was no where near idling right with the tune. Once you figure that out I"m sure she'll start for you!

lol sleepy. i think you missed when she idled at like 1k rpm for a minute and a half... youtube vid link is in my signature.

but yeah i'm sure i'll figure it out... it's probably another boneheaded mistake of mine.... the megasquirt doesn't like to work when it's really warm, but i don't really have anywhere to stash it because the dash hasn't been reinstalled yet.
