sup sleepy. when i saw i had a new email i just kind of assumed mike had responded again lol.

yeah idk if i'm gonna get them or not. depends on my money situation. definitely want a pair once she's done, but that might be a ways down the road.

question, with the Megasquirt I won't need/can't use a MAF, does this mean i get to get a blocking plate for the MAF? If i can just take the adapter out i totally will.

I'll be running speed density engine control with barometric correction. cause alpha-N is crappy.

So going with a custom fuel injection? Won't that prove to be a problem when it comes time to get her all legal for the road?

yeah i'm gonna go with the Megasquirt tuning setup. the plan is to register her with a transfer title (aka "hey i just bought this car and drove it to Cali") which then makes her 49-state legal. any 49-state used legal vehicle in the state of Cali only has to pass basic EPA emissions tests. once that happens I'll take the smog test and my insurance into the DMV and act like i'm registering a totally normal Ford Focus.

that's the plan at least.

yeah i'm hoping i can find a smog shop who'll believe me when i say "it's 49-state legal, just confirm it meets EPA regulations"

why don't you do what I'm trying to do? hook up the required sensors (more like patch in) on your engine, and wire them to the STOCK ECU. that way it's techinically OBDII compliant and if they plug it in it will say "ready"

at least that's what I'm doing, though it may not matter so much being a 4 cyl still.

well the problem is the Contour IC is wired different from the focus one so I'm kinda screwed there and i borrowed an ECU diagnostic tool from a friend and the Contour ECU wouldn't even handshake with the diagnostic tool. I'm really tempted to design a custom circuit to emulate an OBD-II device saying "READY/NO ERRORS". Cause i could do that with an arduino probably or a PIC, or an MSP430. only needs to be hooked up when i get smogged :D

hell i could prolly make money selling the program lol.

I'll let you know when I make mine Mike... gotta figure out what's actually required to pass smog as far as OBD-II stuff then i'll program something to emulate the communications of a real ECU.
