The 99-00 si's should run low 15's bone stock. I drove my buddy's ex coupe with a b16 swap and cheap ass bolt on's to a 14.8.

They do have short gearing, 4.440 final drive at 70mph they are around 4k. I have a si tranny in my gsr. I dont know much about focus gearing. The 1.6 ltr has NO TQ. There again I dont know about the power in the focus.

BTW the 02+ si hatchbacks (aka 2dr odessy's) are slow as balls.

ford engines have torque!! ive driven civic and neons and other cmpable cars that would compete witn my zx3 and the only one that felt quicker was a 2000 turbo beetle. that car belongs to my cousin. and is the reason i respect beetles

wow, as a mod I'm gonna have to welcome ya and thank ya for sharing the info. You may not drive a focus, but coming in and sharing, also seeming to want to learn, your more than welcome here.
We've had many trolls that pop in to just start stuff.
You come in being helpful and informative. gotta say thank ya and welcome to our world...lol
a car should be enjoyed for what it is, not ragged on for what its not and was never intended to be. Hope ya learn a few things here and enjoy.

^^Ya thanks for not bein like "american cars suck..HONDA RULES!". We are a generally accepting people who for the most part understand that Honda is a respectable company (at the very least)! As far as gearing is concerned..the SVT has got some crazy gears...long as hell in first, second and short in third, fourth, fifth and sixth. I'm just a TICK below 4000 RPMs at 90 MPH though, so it's not really THAT shortly geared. Ford motors are made to create torque, but the way Honda seems to get their tiny little strung out motors to put the torque down to the ground really does not make them feel that much slower. I drove an RSX-S for example, and was surprised when I felt like it had more torque than my SVT did in stock form even though the SVT was rated at 145 ft.lb and the RSX-S slightly less. I gotta hand it to Honda for the new SI though, they upped the bar a little bit. Unfortunately for them, Mazda and VW were happy to oblige! That is good for us pocket rocket enthusiasts though. I just wish Ford would follow suit. Soon Saturn will be better.

ford doesnt have a car that will compete with the IRL... they are pretty slick regardless of any preconceived notions.

I like the IRL even if it is kinda...fugly looking. Regardless, as far as NA fit and finish is concerned, nothing can touch the new SI. It's the epitome of a pocket rocket IMO.
