Ran my first AutoX

And I actually won my damn class! But of course the big dogs werent there since a lot of people in the area ran at the Boeing Airport or where at NOPI. I ran in SM, however the results they posted shows me in SM2 which is not where a Focus SVT belongs.

It was so much fun and can't wait till the next time out. I thought I ran a clean day with no cones hit.....then i saw a +1 on my last run which was actually my best time. DAMN IT. But I had a blast and anyone should go.

There were people sunday driving it through the coarse, so if you doubt heading out cause your nervous or the thought of embarrassment. DONT WORRY ABOUT IT. I took my stock suspension, my crappy Kumho Ecsta 711s, tons of wheel spin, and ran some pretty solid times out there for a Noob.

I just have to learn to feather the throttle a little more because it was smoke city. And another note....i love how our cars Oversteer on decel and braking. Saw a lot of front wheel drive cars just understeering horribly and really hurting their times.

I keep telling people, the SVTF will oversteer on command...

Good job man! Definitely keep that wheespin under control. One of the best things I ever did to learn to drive fast without wheelspin was to drive one gear higher than I normally would. Made me learn how to maintain speed as I could no longer accelerate quite so much and made me a much better driver. Ended up much faster in 3rd gear than I had been in 2nd, and then even faster when I could use 2nd with real discipline.

glad to hear you had a good time. I remember my first day out and I totally went in feeling like a tool: a lil nervous, total noob, didnt know what to expect. My first run I even lost the course in the sea of cones, lol. But looking back, it really is no big deal. Just getting out there and doing it is all it takes, the rest just comes to you.

Congrats on the win. Glad you had a good time man It will be very addicting though, I find myself getting the shakes if I do get to go to one for a while. lol.

I was wondering why you were running in SM then I noticed the JRSC BBK in the sig. How do you like it? I run in SM as well and we have some pretty stiff competition up around these parts.

Coincidentally, I ran my first autocross this weekend as well; though I was dead-slow, it was absolutely addicting, I'll be running with this club all summer. Only problem is I really want a race car now; I've always wanted an AW11 MR2, now I really want one...

Taking SM is impressive. At our event, SM was full of 2000lb civic hatches with wide wheels and race rubber. You could say they were quick.

Our SM entries are a ground up built Trirumph TR6 with a giant supercharger and a well-modified Evo VIII MR. Quick class to be sure... That TR6 may well be the most pissed-off sounding street car I have ever been around, and a friend who normally races a formula car got out of it literally shaking and kept repeating "It's just too fast... too godd$*n fast..."
