2000 intake ....

okay, I was trying to figure out why bother swapping to a 2000 intake manifold. Basically, are the reasons for swapping are the runners and easier to port? By porting, is it actually porting the intake runners and such, or just port matching to the TB?

I was trying an online wrecker search, and it lists 2 different types....1 starting with ID #WS4E and the other #988F...what's the diff?

^^^ First, the 2000 intake manifold is one piece, which allows for smoother airflow to begin with. All newer intake manifolds are two pieces. The porting is done at the openings, typically, since the piece is plastic. I am just about to add it on to my car and see what difference it may make.

what i took mine off and started comparing two a side....u can clearly see the 2000 intakes runners are bigger (more roundy) and when u look at the regular intake u can take they are flatter and and skinnier

Generally, the 2K manifold is more of icing on the cake than a real power adder, assuming the rest of the parts on the engine are stock you probably won't even know there's a difference. If you're running FI or aggressive N/A it might rev a bit smoother and yield an extra HP or two on the dyno, but its not going to result in earth-shattering gains. I look at it as a mod for someone who's trying to milk their car for every last drop of power they can get out of it.

I don't have the link to the thread but someone on here actually flow test all the different ones because he was making a custom one for his school project and to my suprised the 2000 intake manifold actully flowed between the short runners and long runners of the svt intake I think it was about 212cfm and the short runner of the svt flowed I think 180 to 190 cfm and the long runner section of it flowed I think 237. the 2001 and up manifold flowed a measly 160 something I believe it was the lowest flowing manifold. so the 2000 fits nicely between the svt diffrent configurations long/short runner. So I feel it is a worthy upgrade provided you have almost all the other bolt ons. And the 00' manifold tested was ported just the tb opening and the ports were matched to the head.

Yes. I just added it to my car. Everything else is stock pending some time to get other stuff done. I have noticed less hesitation when I press the pedal (that should improve when I add my CFM TB). Also, everything sounds stock until you really punch it, then you get a bit more throaty sound. This is also where I noticed less hesitation, on the higher RPM end. With the stock intake manifold, I would punch the gas to the floor, have the delay, and then feel like someone was pulling on the back of the car when I hit over 4000 RPM. That feeling is now gone.

Remember, I have everything else stock on the intake and exhaust side.
