16's VS 17's !?

Hello,

Just a Quick question , going from sixteens to seventeens do you think I would notice much in the way of gas milage loss and spedo being off?

Thanks

Not if you use the proper tire size; which for you should be, what, 205/45R17? I'm sure somebody will post up the closest size match.

if you get a 205/45R17 or 215/40R17 or 215/45R17 your speedo will at most be only 4% off of the original tires (205/50R16 im guessing). you will not notice any difference.

IMHO though, you will probably like that lil bit extra of sidewall of the 45's...help protect those wheels, esp if the winters are as hard on the roads as they have been here. Not to mention they will fill the wheel well a lil nicer.

My SVT came with 215/45 r17's and I went to 215/50 r 17's...just that lil bit made it look nicer as far as gap is concerned.

Tire Rack's specs list overall diameter.

Measure or research the overall diameter of your tires- brands are slightly different for the same size. Then check the diameter of the tires you want to order for your car. That will tell you if the speedo is going to be different or not. You can also look at the revs per mile.

The biggest FE beef with larger wheels is more weight. It took me a long time of searching to come up with a 17" wheel/tire combo that weighs close to what the current 15" aluminum wheel/tire combo weighs on my car. My RSA's are finally wearing out, and soon, I'll know how good I did.

OH one more thing, the factory 16's are fairly heavy as far as wheels go, check in this thread, you shouldn't have a problem coming up with a wheel/tire combo that weighs less than yours does. I checked mine with a bathroom scale at 36lbs inflated. I'll check the Centerlines and Dunlops before I install.

go 16's with a 215 45

no need to go 17's just extra rolling mass

actually go 15's with a 215 50

I've noticed on some of the sites I've visited looking for new wheels on my Focus that there aren't many to choose from in the 16's so I was wondering if I chose go get a set of 17 inch wheels, is there anything I would have to do to be able to fit them? My 2007 ZX3 is completely stock and has the 16 inch wheels with the SES package or whatever I got.
I don't know a thing about wheel or tire sizes, etc. so I thought I better ask first if I would have any wheel rub, etc. with bigger wheels.

Thanks in advance =)

awesome, I checked my tires today before I went joyriding (very bad habit I have caught) and I have 205 instead of 215 but I'll probably get the bundle packages with the tires included.

I do plan on getting the Eibach Pro Kit soon too, think I'll have a problem with rubbing then or no? I'm so full of questions
