Airbag Light won't turn off

Hello Everyone, I'm new to Focus Fanatics and I must say that I am impressed. I can always find the answers to my questions through the search but I can't find much info on my current problem. I have a 05 ZX4 ST and I love it. It runs very well but last week my airbag light came on and won't go off. I let my friend drive my car because I had a few too many drinks and while he was driving he over revved the engine. After that the car went crazy. Airbag light came on along with the ABS light. I wasn't in the best shape to notice all that happened. Anyways, the car drives as great as the day I bought it but the airbag light wont go out. I disconnected the battery but now I found out that doing so won't clear codes. I also have a low voltage dtc. I guess my question is: Does over revving your engine cause the alternator to cut out making the car believe there is low voltage and go crazy?

I plan on doing that on my day off. I'm just worried about it, so I thought I would ask y'all.

Wow I just realized how old this topic is... oh well.. My airbag light for some reason doesnt like my girlfriend.. whenever she sits in the passenger side the light stays on as if she was barely there. Im thinkin its a bad sensor, is there any way to change it or fix it?

^^^ That sensor is in the seat. It may just need to be reset. I don't know how to do it myself since all my manuals say there is special training needed.

As far as anything to do with the ABS, unless you have had a minor accident, the dealer should do the checking. Airbags are very expensive, and you don't want to accidentally set one off.

Yeah mine is on. The sensor in the steering wheel went bad and they have to replace it. They should be doing it tomorrow.

Sounds like a code 22:

22 Safing Sensor Output Circuit - Shorted to Battery Voltage

Perhaps a clockspring problem.
