well duh, you gotta figure N/A 4 banger versus turbo'd 4 banger, if you F/I the SVT it would be a much better match up between the SVT and the 1.8t or SRT-4, etc...

Kill? I would think it would be fairly close..now my R32 would kill my SVT...I don't think a 02 GTi w/1.8t would "kill" the SVTF..

^^ I've been under the same impression. Stock for stock I thought it was pretty close. Play the money game, and apparently VW is easy mode.

well stock for stock would come down to the driver...now $1200 vs. $1200, the GTI will smoke cars much faster than an SVT

I have both a GTI and an SVT. They are both great cars in totally different ways. The SVT is definitely more fun to drive and faster on track, but in a lot of ways the GTI is a better daily driver.

That's a terrible deal for $8000. My SVT is going for $9000 with a clean title and a warranty...

was your GTi modded?? - a chipped GTi will beat a non F-I'd SVTF... I've put down a few lightly modded gti's once I got FI...

how has the reliability been with your GTI? because i keep hearing horror stories about VW and then some people saying they are the same as any domestic.

buy the vw, and chip it. Its more than enough power with an K&N cone, chip, front mount and exhaust. The interior of v-dubs is so nice, the ride is just hard enough that you can drive it everyday and if its the 1.8t the seats are supportive and soft.
