Drag suspension?

alright what is everyone runing for their suspension at the strip. I'm looking for the best all around setup but need something that will really perform at the drag strip. I want to basically be able to lock out the rear to limit the squating that the focus tends to do and be able to soften up the front as well.

I don't think theres really any parts sold specifically for drag racing in a Focus, but you're right about wanting to prevent the rear from squatting. That can be achieved by running high rate springs (like 1000lbs) and adjustable shocks. If you want a no compromise setup you can throw out the complete rear independent suspension and have a straight axle put in its place. There you get the added benefit of large weight savings while also opening up the selection of shocks and coil overs available. For the front your going to want to make it stiffer than stock but not as stiff as the rear. One of the major things you want to address in the front suspension are the bushings. The stock rubber bushings are what contribute to wheel hop and should be replaced with as solid of a replacement as you are willing to live with. The alignment is also important in the front. You want the front tires to have 0 camber when the suspension is loaded on acceleration. This will allow the car to get the most out of whatever size tire you are running. Overall on the suspension you want as much adjustability as you can get. From adjusting the ride height to adjusting the bound/rebound on the shocks. To get the most out of the suspension you're just going to have to do a lot tuning to dial it in so that it works right for your combo and for the track conditions on that given day. Hope this helps.

anyways... for all around a good set of adjustable shocks and struts will help tremendously. as for springs, to high of rate can cause problems, I'd go with eibach pro springs and swaybars (swaybars will also help to stiffen suspension some).
this will give decent strip manners while staying decent for day to day use also.
adding heavier race springs you'll find will kill your kidneys for day to day use. I did a 1700 mile trip on h&r race springs... i felt every joint in the interstate (missouri was the worse).
mine have since been replaced with eibachs, still has outstanding handling, yet is fairly comfy.
don't think a suspension will automatically make a car faster on the strip, tires plays alot too.

I probably should have posted what i already have.

I have all three bushings, the ingals stiffy, complete urathane suspension kit, both H&R sway bars, and the H&R cupkit which is currently really tired. I'm looking at getting the Gaz coilover kit and then i'm also getting the lakewood traction bars. between everything else I should be able to have just about the perfect setup for traction when i want it. Plus i'll be able to adjust it for regular driving.

Since its sounds like you already have quite a few improvements over stock your best bet is to get a decent tire on there and hit the strip. Establishing a basline will help you determine what future modifications should be made. I recommend the new Hoosier Drag Radials in 225-50-15. They have been stable enough to drive to the track on and Honda guys have been getting them well into the 1.7's. They fit really well on a Focus without any rubbing. Heres a pic on my SVTF.

Yea wtf???

He disses you and then goes on to recommend an eibach kit and swaybar???? LOL a swaybar imparts ZERO damping when both sides move equally, and the eibach kit is basically a stock svt setup with better manners.

pwned him though by posting a pic of drag radials on your car - thats the hotness.
