HELP ME!!! 2002 zx3 electrical problem

I dont know if anyone else has had this problem? But i have a 2002 ford focus zx3 and continue to have this electrical problem with it. I have taken to the shop 3 times first time ford said all it needed was a new battery. then the problem came back they said it was alternator. now it is happening again and they say they dont whats wrong. Anyways heres the symptoms. Battery light always pops on the car idles rough until i throw it in nuetral and it always stalls. Any suggestions would be appreciated

the voltage regulator is likely going out or the alternator may be haven't been great in the first place. when u go to the shop, as them to run some voltage tests in front of you and see if they will reimburse any % of the original bill....do u know if they just ran a battery tester?..do u know of any diagnosis that was done?...or was it an angry a tech that just wanted to jump and replace parts.

being its an 02, i don't think u will have any grounding problems...but you may, it happens...

Sounds like Voltage Regulator in the Alternator to me too, Doubt the Grounding issues Unless you have an aftermarket radio installed, any SUB-woofers?

I have no aftermarket system. But yeah i will do that take it and have them test that voltage regultator with me watching.
By the way First time when ford said they hooked it up to diagnosis machine and said it was battery i smelt alot of ozone. second time i took it to this wills service they were the ones that installed alternator. and thats where i took it the 3rd time to check the alternator and they said they didnt find anything. Thanks for the help and fast responses

I will take it there again maybe alternator turned bad and they didnt want to honor warranty.

my symptoms sound alot like this but my battery light comes on all the time and sometimes the exclamation mark and tranny drops hard

Well i have fixed my car it was a combination of bad grounds and a blown fuse. Right now the car is running excellent and if the problem reoccurs i know what to test and how to fix it. thanks to all of you who have been of great help
