Friend wants to mod, need help!!!
Alright, so my friend just picked up, well was given a 98 honda civc lx from his aunt and uncle. His family are like honda freaks but anyway haha it has been really taken care of and is in great condition. Anyway he's been talking to other friends and he is interested in modding. His friend was telling him intake, exhaust and chip...who happens to own a jetta. Exhaust if he does it im obviously going to steer him to something that i cant fit my fist into and doesnt sound like a bee hive, and intake i guess he can go with AEM or something. But chip, or tune whatever....i was reading over some honda forums and supposly you cant chip 95+ honda civics or something. Does anyone know, is this true. Anyone who knows honda's on here help me out.
All others, keep your mouth shut lol, i dont wanna see any honda hate comments on here, or his first mod should to be a different car. lol Just help, dont waste my time. Thanks

i do know this , on my 95 mustand gt (5.0) that was the last year to but a chip.(hypertech)after that you had to buy the programmer. so, ill assume honda went with the same setup. as for exhaust, tell you buddy to steer clear of the fart cans, throw a flowmaster on there or somthing.as for cai, thoes year of civic use a short ram intake , they dont go down by the fender like ours.(a few of my buddies have lightly built civics) i would have responded sooner, but i was waiting for somone with more honda experience to answer ya.

I think your Jetta friend has to realize something - the civic isn't a GTI, we can't just chip them for ~100 whp/wtq.
I'd imagine some sort of engine management is available, but even a good tune won't bring much out of it unless he has some sort of engine swap, a heavy engine build-up, some kind of n20 spray, or F/I. |

B series motors are pretty cheap to build, but I dunno if they would have to be fully converted to OBD2 or not. May depend on the motor. That or find a GSR motor. Those are about the only straight forward options other than trying to modify the single cam. I'm afraid this is out of my year range.
