Just bought a brand new 2007 Focus ZXW

I picked it up from the dealer on Saturday. It's an SE, with 5 speed manual. Pretty hard to find the wagon in a 5 speed manual too, they had to drive all the way to St Louis Missouri to get one, which is about 200 miles away. I bought it to replace my 97 Plymouth Breeze, which was serving as my work car. I needed a new car, the Breeze was getting up there in miles and didn't have enough space to hold all my parts for work anymore.

I drive about 3-4000 miles every month for work. I bought the Focus for its good gas mileage, good reputation for reliability, and the fact that it was a pretty cheap car. I am pretty much only going to use it for work and if I need to take a long distance trip (more than 100 miles away). I have no intention to modify the car for performance or anything like that.

Is there anything I should know in regard to these cars? I know they are pretty reliable, but are there any specific things to watch out for? I work on cars as a hobby (I own a 94 Camaro Z28 that I drag race) and do all my own work. I really like the Focus so far, it's pretty responsive with the 5 speed (MUCH faster than my old Breeze). Just looking for a little more knowledge from anyone who's had experience with the Focus.

heh, i don't know about the mileage bud. a lot of people are complaining. seems to me that the mileage is there just to sell the car. you'll have problems with engine mounts (not really problems, but the knocking will probably bother you), you'll have problems shifting into third gear - not as smooth as you would expect.

Other than that, I never had problems with mine. My dad complains of sucky seats. Too stiff when driving long distances, but I dont have problems with them
