Finished Rear disc conversion.....FINALLY !! *pics*

Well, I said I was doing it last month, and I was. My SVT used brakes came in in bad shape, the only thing usable was the calipers, brackets and some bolts. I bought new OEM style dics, good pads and stainless lines for the whole car from B.A.T. in Sarasote Fl. From Ford I ordered everything nessasary to rebuild the hubs. Focus Salvage was cool to send me a new e-brake cable set up that was forgot from my order.
The install, once I had all the parts, went pretty smooth. This is a rear set from an '03 SVT, on my '05 ZX3 SES. The 05 and up ZX3 has bigger front brakes than previous years so upgrading the rear worked fine with the existing master cylinder. On that note, when ordering stainless lines for the front of your 05 and up, make sure they are aware of this as the 04 and below fitting to the caliper will be too short ! Eric at BAT is now aware of it and thanks to my car will know what to send you. You will get 4 hoses for an SVT rear set, but you will not use the 2 short ones.
I ended up spending close to a grand for this, and if I could do it over I would order the whole kit, NEW, from BAT for 800 bucks - trying to save myself a few bucks ended up wasting a lot of time and more money- time cleaning up parts, paintint etc etc.
The car has 4 wheel ABS, which swapped with no problem.
Stopping power ? Its AWSOME - way better, stomp on it at 60 and your eye balls come out of socket. Definately worth it, and looks SO SWEET.
No more drum brakes !!!!!! YUK
Hope this helps anyone looking to do it - if you want to ask me anything, PM me.....

The reasons why I bought my ST
1. 2.3 liter
2. All wheel discs *
3. colored door handles ect.

Nice work on the conversion. I can't believe disc brakes aren't standard on all foci models or atleast an option. Drum brakes are yucky. Disc brakes ftw. I like the red calipers too. it looks sweet.

Thanks a lot ! yeah, I agree - 1940 called, they want all thier drum brakes back. If I was Ford, I would be embarrased to sell a car with drum brakes.
What the hell are they thinking ? Even a scion comes with discs.....

Well, when people stop calling Parking Brakes "E-Brakes", I guess Ford will stop putting drums on, cuz they don't have E-Brakes on cars anymore.

Nice swap. But should be in the Wheel/Tire/Brake forum

Also about drum brakes; they work just fine for 98% of the people that drive Focuses.

Ok - maybe they will move post -hey ChazimusZX4ST : if you get a hole, or loose your master cylinder, fluid etc etc - and you must stop in an "emergency" the rear "parking" brake is activated by a cable. The reason it is on a separate activation system sounds like a back up safety to me. But I am just a simple cave man engineer.
