Engine Swat: Zetec for SVT Zetec
What needed to perform a engine swap with a SVT motor? If it just a built in affair or do things need to be changed or modded?

Well, it certainly just doesn't drop in. You'll at least need a different computer, quite possibly wire harness. You will want to contact Jeremy at Focus Salvage, he does a lot of engine swaps and I know he can shed some light on this.

IMHO...Not even worth it. The engine isn't what makes an SVT an SVT. You can get a Jackson Racing supercharger and have the same power as a stock SVT engine and probably spend less and installation is a breeze. If you are going to swap, my suggestion is buy a used Zetec engine and build it, drop it in either built N/A or go big and go for F/I of some kind.....OR, find a 2.3, build it up all nice with Cosworth goodies and have around 180+whp N/A.

Engine-wise, it will drop in, but everything else as far as electrical will be different. Like SVT_BMXer said, build a Zetec. . . . .

the svt engine has "only" 40 more hp...
that can "easily" be achived by doing all the bolt ons (exhaust, filter, etc) and changing head and some cams, and dyno tune (ecu, and cam gears) doing this will cost less than the parts for the swap and the installation... you can easily see the same bhp than a svt with more tq with the right combination...
