Question Does anybody have this OBX header??

I was on ebay today and I am seriously contemplating buying these headers.
Item # 170077221516

They are the shorty headers, combined with what looks to be a high flo cat. I want to get these simply for the price, but I've heard mixed reviews about OBX. I need to keep my car emissions friendly, that's why I am liking this header kit so much. If i was swimming in money I would get the SVT Header kit, with RT HighFlo cat, and Flexpipe from McNews, but I am a struggling college student!!

Any opinions on these would be great because I am about to bid...the main thing I am concerned about is the second piece. Is it a high flo cat or just a gutted pipe made to look like a cat?? Also would my O2 plugs fit right in, or would I be better off taking it to a muffler shop??

Yay, I'm not the only one looking for headers these days. I'm looking at the shorty and the long tube. That pipe is a straight pipe EMAN44. They just made it look like a cat. So if you want to stay emissions legal, just buy the shorty OBX header and a high flow cat. You can put the shorty on the stock cat but sooner or later the oem cat will take a dump due to the higher flow of the headers. Hope this helps.

I have it. Works great. No complaints. Hard to tell if there were any big gains, as I did it at the same time as my TB and IM.

That downpipe is just a resonator, no cat.

Don't mean to jack your thread EMAN44 but Cowboy, how was the install? PITA or pretty much straight forward?

I will tell you that you have to have patients. When trying to get the bolts, it was like an 1/8 turn at a time. I did my install in about 4 hours (and i've never done any of that before). Exhaust was my first real mod i've ever done to a car. I've had my headers on for over 2 years now. No problems. No leaks. Be prepared for some more noise also.

Well I wish it would've had a high flo cat...guess I could get a high flo cat at the muffler shop, and have then cut right around the bulge and weld up the new cat. How does that sound?

I was thinking about doing that before I went the ORP route but never went to the exhaust shop to see if they can do it. Go to the exhaust shop and see what they can do. I'm pretty sure they can do it easily.

Well I went by the muffler shop today with a pic of the header and downpipe and asked them if they could install a high flo cat between the two sensors, but it turns out the smallest high flo cat is too big to fit. And he was asking aroun $200 for the high flo cat (including installation) itselF!! But I think that I am going to still get the header kit, and when it comes time to get my emissions done inJuly, I'll have the stock cat ready to replace the offroad pipe. As soon as emissions are done, I'll come back home and pop the offroad pipe back on!!
Where can one get the O2 cheater harness so I don't get the CEL light with the offroad? Is that all I need when running the offroad pipe?

All you need is an O2 Cheater for an ORP. You can pretty much get it anywhere. Try newedgeperformance and CFM. You can even try ebay. They are around $30 bucks.
