was boosting your focus worth it? zetec guys chime in

I'm asking this, because i'm still trying to justify spending 3k+ on boost and extra parts to run w/some of the big dogs lol

for instance, we put 3k in our car to run a certain extent, then a rsx type s puts 3k in theirs, we are in the dust again. Pretty much the same concept for any other big name compact car...we have to go the extra mile just to hang w/some guys that have I/H/E

reason I know this, is because I hang out w/a big diverse group of guys that have different compacts ect...I see where I stand now w/160ish whp and 148ish wtq and for a NA Focus that's really good, but when paired up w/swapped hatches, RSX's, cars that come w/160 or more crank hp, it's not really THAT big of a deal.

I'm not saying that the Focus doesn't have it's advantages, it does, I realize we have torque when Honda doesn't, I realize we have nice handling capabilities, but I don't road race nor do I run around the back roads telling friends to chase me lol (although that would be fun) but anyways, you see my point.

In a straight line, unless we are running against guys in our class like Teg LS's, Corollas S's, ect ect.....we are strugglin....for instance for us to see 300whp, we have to build, boost ect.....where as a Type S (for example) wants 300whp, they just slap on 8lbs of boost...see my point?

we have to try so hard to get big power, where as others dont' really. Then again, big power to us, may not be big power to them.

Maybe I shouldn't try to shove the Foci in a class where guys have 160 crank or higher, but it's hard not too, when majority of compacts that run around are like that or that much better..

so anyways, i'm not complaining, I'm just simply asking is it that much more of a drive everyday? has anybody else thought about it like I do? or am I the only one?

just thought i'd ask, sorry about the novel : )

After 2 different SC kits (Vortech then Powerworks) plus all the other stuff I have done to make power to the car.......... Yes and no, At first it was alot of fun but now I will be happy with a nice daily driveable PW car. If you can boost your focus for 3 grand and stop there I would say yes. My next "toy" car will be RWD or possible AWD

you're comparing a RSX-S to a base model focus... that's apples to oranges....

I say it's worth it... Remember, numbers to the ground are only numbers to the ground. If you can't get down the track it's useless... And don't forget the driver factor.

remember our cars are a lil lighter then some of the other cars, on avg about 300pounds lighter, if you veak it down to hp per pound with a turbo you got some nice numbers, turbo all the way
