2000 Focus rear seat belt problem

Tried Search several times and found nothing.

Regarding the rear center seatbelt in the 2000 Focus ZX3 (hatchback).

We installed a child seat in the center position, using the locking seat belt feature. Recently we removed the child seat to move it to a different car, but when we went to reinstall it we could not get the seatbelt unlocked. It has retracted all the way, but now it wont pull out at all.

The owner's manual says that to deactivate the locking seat belt feature we need to allow the seat belt to retract completely, which it is. I have tried to get any more available retraction out of the seat belt but it appears to really be at the end of its travel (there is a little button sewn into the seatbelt that acts as a stop).

Has anyone else experienced this problem and how did you get the seatbelt to work again?

Thanks,
Dave

Hmmm, I can't help you with that, ours ( we use it often for the same thing )always works fine. There is one thing I can tell you though, we went to the dealer and got a seatbelt extension ( they are free ) and it made the car seat MUCH easier to install and get back out. That might help you in the future. If you can't get it to unlock, you may have a defective one. I would run it by the dealership when you get a minute, if you don't get a majic answer here.

Welcome to the site BTW!

I"ll move this to the technical section, we may get an answer there.
