Anyone here in NC Tarheel SCC?

Decided to take the plunge and try a little Auto-X.
Thanks to all the helpful links here, I found out that Tarheel SCC holds events really close to me - I'm planning on joining and getting in on the Feb 25th test and tune, and hopefully the March Novice school.

Always wanted to give autocross a try for fun. I was having a little fun on some back roads and realized that an SVT has the kind of handling to get me in *serious* trouble ;) - need to keep these kicks under controlled conditions.

I haven't driven many performance cars - but holy $#@% does this thing handle. Only thing that came close was an Audi A4 that I got to drive around the Nurburgring Nordschleife - but that's *another* story ;)...

I've run in one or two of their events when they hold them at VMP.

Check out the links - It's only going to cost me a $35 member fee and $25 entry to give it a go. Sounds like some cheap fun to me

Now if I get addicted and need new wheels, tires, etc....

If you autocross with the tarheel guys you might be close enough to check out all the groups that are in the Hampton Roads area, you have the Tidewater Sports Car Club who autocross out of ACU-4 the humungous navy hovercraft base in Norfolk (probably one of the best auto-x sites on the east coast), the Beach Combers Corvette club run an awesome winter 4 series that is open to everyone and the local SCCA, who run out of a local air field.
Those 3 autocross groups are probably the one thing I miss about living in Norfolk considering Jacksonville has 1 and I am usually on duty, or coming off duty or under way whenever they have an even... damned navy.

Anwyay, good luck and have fun!
