Transmission trouble!!!

My trans. has been slipping for a while since around 36,000 miles I found a complaint site and someone else was having the same problem. What I want to know is if anyone else has had that problem too, and how it was fixed. I put some Lucas transmission fix in but that only stoped it for a little while. It slips when it shifts into 2nd from 1st and when it drops to 2nd gear. I apprieciate any advice other than changing the trans fluid and filter b/c its been done.

i do not have an answer for you, sorry,

my mom has an 00 atx wagon (zetec) with about 40k, no tranny probs.

i hope you can get it fixed soon, and that its not too big of a prob.

here is something that might be of some use to you, it is the recalls and TSBs on your car, i did not see any tranny stuff there, but it may be nice to have none the less.

Had a tranny slip problem the day after I bought it. And my car is automatic. Shouldnt slip. If your car is still under warranty they should fix it still for free. But if it aint then try letting out some tranny fluid. If it still slips, get some Lucus tranny oil. Should help a bit.

Yes it was a big fix. They gave me a REMAN tranny [remanufactured]. Took about a week to fix from Ford. But if it slips I say just flush tranny fluid, put a couple quartz of new tranny fluid in, add a little Lucas tranny fluid addative. And viola if it still slips then u need a new tranny.

Didn't focusin say he already tried the Lucas additive?

Auto's are too fickle for me...gotta have the 5-speed.

Question

I just bought a 2004 LX 5-speed, and I've heard the MTX-5 tranny having problems with the limited slip diff. in the 2002 Cougar.

The solinoid (?) has failed and it's burnin all the gears. It'll cost any where from $1700 to $2500 buckaroonies took fix. Sorry for the bad news
