Another Header question; Shorty vs Race

By the end of the month,My Focus is getting a header.
Its a done decision.
Its probably going to be OBX.
I know enough people on here that have had great success with em.
But heres my question.
Whats the difference between a shorty header with off roade pipe/cat delete and full length race header?
Most of the OBX headers on eBay come with the seperate off road pipe.
If thats installed with the header piece,isnt it doing the same thing as the full length race header?
By putting on the off road pipe,the size would be close to a full length one piece header....
Isnt it just a two piece race header when installed?
Unsure.....Help!

Race header = Good

Shorty= Bullshit


the only good gains u will feel is only with the long tube header...then finish it of with bigger flex pipe and matchin size catback


shorty is only good if u wanna feel 3hp gain with ur car....all it is a just thats a lil bit bigger then the stock header....also ur gonna stay legal for e-test


check my photo gallary....and if u will get long tube make sute to wrap it up :)

He said shorty with orp or high flow cat, which is kinda close to the gains you would make from a long tube. The only way shorty's do nothing, or close to it, is when you retain the stock cat. I think the orp you're talking about is just so it *looks* like a cat, note the bulge in it.
But either way you're going to be really loud, so fork up the little extra dough for the long tube because it will make more power, as it scavenges a little better. If you want to stay legal and be a little quieter, shorty and high flow cat is what you want, but that's like twice as expensive as a race header.

the ONLY reason to get a shorty header is to stay emissions legal...otherwise get a long tube...the orp is a tube of metal that connects ur header to ur flex...thats it!...i would def go long tube...obx if u can get away w an orp and svt if u need to test for emissions

I have a long tube

I have the SVT Header with a Hi-Flow Cat and it's the best of both Worlds. The gains are simply Amazing and i stay emissions legal! The SVT Header is the best header available for the Zetec. That's why SVT Owners only change their cat to a Hi-Flow or get ride of it all together with an ORP or when the go Turbo, with a turbo manifold. But it's also the most expensive. But in the world of modding, you get what you pay for!

....i donno i paid somewhat around $450 to $500 for my full exhaust system(header,flex, catback)....the gains are great...expensive? not really....

If you like a more quiet exhaust, stick with a shorty and high-flow. This also makes sure you're able to pass emissions. My FC long tube with bosal flex and resonator added borla catback is freaking LOUD. Much much much louder than the shorty/high-flow with the same cat-back setup.
