well my take on the square fogs is they prolly did that to help reduce some of the air drag on the car. When they say they took it to the wind tunnel they sure did. they made everything they could possibly make flow, flow. Seems the normal fogs give too much drag.

What's really hysterical about this whole thing is that a few months back with respect to the compact and subcompact market Ford reps were quoted as saying something along the lines of 'We tried to out-Korea the Koreans and we're going for a more bold styling like the original Focus.'

They need to find whoever considered this that bold styling and execute their career in automotive design.

There's a reason Toyota/GM ran out and produced the Matrix/Vibe, and all of the other Focus hatchback lookalikes that rushed to the market, because the car was a phenom and took the world by storm. Get those guys back on the project Ford and pull your head out of your ass. Let's hope they do some major fascia restyling for an ST/SVT version.

Eventually, things are going to look like others in the scheme of things. How many friggen crosstraining shoes look like other crosstraining shoes? How many pairs of jeans look just like any other pair of jeans? Fresh new designs are inevitably going to "blend" so... would you guys rather have Chris Bangle design us a focus? Once he gets done, we wouldn't be able to tell what the f#@$ it's supposed to be.

My point is if you're going to make the capital investment to change every piece of sheet metal on a vehicle, why do it on an ancient platform and eliminate the most prominant models in the process?

They're back in the same stupid game of automotive Russian roulette with other manufacturers. Oh well, it's definitely a huge step up from the current models on the road. Personally I consider it an enormous disappointment.

I wasn't knocking your opinion. I actually side with you on some of it. I'm going to give it a chance and take a look at one on the dealer lot when it's available.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for an SVT model to come out in the next 12 months. If it doesn't I'll be further pertubed at Ford. With a 2.3 DISI turbo powerplant in their arsenal they really should revive it. And heck, I never liked the look of the Focus til I saw the SVTF back in 2001-2003 either. We'll see where they go, but one thing is for sure at this point in the FOMOCO drama - not even they have any idea what direction they're trying to head.
