Post Auto To Manual Swap

My buddy got a 03 zx3 but its a auto. And he wants to get it converted to manual. Beacuse he wants to get a turbo kit. and i dont know how everything will react with a turbo & auto transmission. Has any one done this??? or know where to convert it to manual????

Its been done, but its not really worth it in most peoples opinion. I researched it back when I had an auto sedan, its expensive, time consuming, and hard to be done flawlessly. I ended up selling that car, and buying a 2 year newer focus, with less miles and still pocketing some money, so unless its a unique car or has lots of custom work, tell him to buy a manual car.

Yeah, an ATX won't respond to a turbo as well as you would like. On my ZX2 forum one guy with a Turbo ATX was still running 16 second 1/4 miles but could rape on the highway. As for a manual swap, there is a massive how-to for the ZX2 but it has a different trans than the zetec focus. It can be done for about $1-1.5K if you do it yourself. But IMO it's not really worth it. That's why I bought my Focus and didn't screw around with swapping my ATX ZX2.

yeah converting to an manual costs way too much is there's alot involved. he's better off just to get a supercharger and build up his auto tranny.

I love the ATX and a turbo , if i build another Turbo Focus it will be a ATX all the way

Turbos and ATX go better then MTX if tuned properly and the ATX will take it

HAH now y'all have the word from someone you trust instead of me. Once you start getting under that 1/10 hp/lb ratio you need both hands on the wheel.
