Corvette Warranty Work Becomes a Crashed Car

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1581344

Mr. Williams took his 2005 C6 Corvette to San Rafael Chevrolet for some warranty work on his antenna and trunk. He gave specific instructions for the servicemen not to drive the car off the lot as it would be unnecessary in the nature of these repairs. Against his wishes, an employee took the car and some prescription drugs on a joyride, crashing the Vette. Now, Mr. Williams wants either his car replaced, or compensation for the lost value upon resale. Who could blame him? The concept of driving a NEW car is that it is in PERFECT condition.

This is completely unacceptable and only fuels the fire of stealership horror stories that we have all heard. All car enthusiasts (or anyone with a brain) should help him take a stand by, at the very least, spreading the word.

Visit the link (also posted above) to read the full report: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1581344

p.s. This has also made the front page of Digg.com news, top 20 most visited website on the internet as well as millions of page views per day.

Thanks for you support.

damn I need to take my focus in to get rear wheel bearings (recall) and I don't want them to see my two-tone supercharged focus and think joyride.

If I lived in CA I'd go picket with them if they really do it.

That totally stinks, but it happens sometimes. I think the real reason why this dealer is being such a jerk is that either their insurance doesn't cover accidents off the lot, that particular employee wasn't insured to drive the cars off the lot, or maybe they are saving a ton of money by not carrying insurance.

I think that the dealer might get away with it in the end. He should've taken the car from them after the accident- whether it could be driven or not. The evidence will be repaired soon, and he'll be stuck in court looking like an ass when the dealer shows up with pictures of his car after it was repaired.

i just skimmed through that, and i am amazed at how little they are doing to help that guy. towards the end it is mentioned that they will be hurt far worse in diminished future sales than they would have been by just giving the guy a new vette or by repairing his...everytime my car is being worked on i am constantly worried something like that will happen. i would do the work for myself, but i simply dont have the time to do the work myself.

in the link, his avatar is a picture of the damage. im sure he has PLENTY of pictures, especially when the dealer said that they wouldn't do anything for him.

I hate dealerships for this kind of thing. I took my SVT in for for warranty work last year. The work should have taken a day, a reflash and rear wheel bearings. When I got the car back three days later, there was half a tank of gas missing and 100 miles put on it. That tells me that they not only took it for a spin but were driving it pretty hard to use that much gas that quick. I was F'ing mad and they basically called me a liar. But to wreck a new Vette, That's just horrible. Then to not really do something to make it right when the vehicle was obviously in their care is even worse. How do dealerships get away with this stuff. Someday, a really pissed of customer will introduce a new kind of terrorism to the dealerships. It's called retalliation......

I feel bad for that guy

Wow thats crazy.

I know I'd be pretty PO'd if my Focus got wrecked like that at the dealership. And it costs what? like 1/3 of a vette?

But if I had a Vette and that happened.. I'd either 1) get locked up in the looney bin, or 2) get locked up in the looney bin.

Hope this guy gets things repaired and stuff. Man, what a way to ruin the holidays too.
