ContiSports suck in the snow!!!

Gaah.

Albuquerque finally gets a little snow so I wimp out of work and head home before it gets bad; it's early so I figure I'll be okay.

I've got 1-2 32'th of an inch of tread wear before I get to my wear indicators so I figure I'll be okay.

The streets are slushy but it's 30 degrees so I figure I'll be okay.

I was NOT okay, the my ContiSports vacuum arse in the snow!!! When my anti-locks weren't rattling, my traction control light was on. It was VERY traumatizing.

Nevertheless, I got home, twichy and wigged but intact with no dents or damage.

Later, the wife and I go out in her taurus equipped with Goodyear TripleTreads and the car works beautifully. Great traction on the ice, snow, slush, whatever. The Goodyear tripletreads are excellent tires for your more pedestrian vehicles.

I'll be getting my conti-extremes next week so this will hopefully be the last time I get to "enjoy" summer tires in the snow.

If you're still running summers, stay away from the ice and snow!

That's because they are not all season tires. Intended solely for summer use.

I feel ya. We had heavy snow here a couple weeks ago and I couldn't hardly move. I have BFGoodrich g-Force sports (summer only) and I didn't dare stop. I planned my route home so that I could just keep rolling.

Yep, summer tires. They need the heat to be nice and sticky.

Contiextreme contacts work very well in both snow and dry. A good replacement, reasonable price but mine never lasted all that long.
