if its just a resistor , go buy one of the correct value and solder it in.

It is the same part number for all models, I've got a '00 LX....

Note: For some reason the 2000 models have a black resistor as opposed to a blue one. I dont know if that makes any difference, but I replaced the one on a 2000 LX and it was black (came from the dealer, dealer only part, about $15).

It's a high wattage resistor Pack which utilizes the blower airflow to cool it. It would be quite difficult to fabricate the equivalent from high wattage resistors.

Since the "official" Ford shop manuals yield no information as to the location of and access to the blower resistor assembly, and since this is a pattern failure on the Focus, could the moderators "sticky" this thread or add it to the "how to" archive?

Wow I was just looking at the how to archive last night looking for this info and couldent find it. I think I will call my local dealership and see if they have this part in stock and see if it will fix my AC and fan.
