I'm Back!

Has anyone replaced their stock seats with racing/performance seats? My question is with the drivers seat, the electical harness that plugs into the bottom seat-What is it for? Pressure sensor? Air Bag sensor? Or what?!?!?!? And has anybody just unpluged it to see what happens? Let me know your experiences.

Seatbelt sensor/pretensioner. Leave it unplugged and the seatbelt light
will blink or stay on forever

You can put a resistor in line on that circuit and it will keep the light off.

That square-ish plug under both seats is for the airbag. I just put racing seats in my car last week...I did not have Ford Focus aftermarket seat brackets so I had a welder weld the new seats to the stock seat brackets...I drove to the welder on a milk crate and with that unit unplugged, the seatbelt reminder will still chime and flash...the airbag light kept on coming on on the dashboard due to the unit being unplugged...Nothing happened to me....no airbag explosions so I'm guessing you should be fine if you unplug it....but that square unit that you had to unplug is def only for your airbags. If you need to...you can just keep it plugged in underneath the seats after you install them and hide them under there..

You drove to the welder on a milk crate? Good god that is dangerous! Good thing I don't live in your state.
