Man can we trade? I want 300 mpg! Just kidding, I'm sure you meant 30? 30 is good from what I understand... mine averages around 25 with the automatic. The Pzev tank is 14 gallons, compared to the 2.0L's 12 I think.

I have had my car now for 10,000 miles and I've been getting 300 to the tank and it is pretty good, considering my 300ZX use to do 200miles per a 16gallon tanks. if I drove all freeway, I could pull 350 per tank...just my experience

Oh jeez, not another mileage thread.

OK, first of all, your claim of 300mpg is clearly an error. I suppose you're trying to say you are getting 300 miles to a tank? Or did you mean 30 mpg and typed an extra zero?

As far as what it's "supposed to" get, the EPA ratings are 25 city and 33 highway for the 5-speed; 24 city and 31 highway for the automatic. "YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY", as the old joke goes. There is really no "supposed to". If you live in Kansas, drive like a granny, and stay the hell out of any kind of traffic or city driving, you are going to see 33 mpg and then some. If you live in Colorado and get your jollies blasting up mountains with your right foot pinned to the carpet, good luck ever seeing 20mpg. It varies a lot with how and where you drive, in other words.

As for the size of the tank: Ford claims the PZEV has a tank that is over 14 gallons, I forget the exact number. The exact number doesn't really matter, unless you plan to run it bone-dry. I certainly hope not. When I've run mine down to the point that the low-fuel light comes on, it has taken 12.3-12.5 gallons to fill. In my opinion, that is a better definition of what the tank holds. Note that the point where the light comes on may vary slightly from car to car; and the point where the gas pump kicks off at "full" will also vary with several factors... so it's really hard to say precisely what the size of the tank is.

Next: You claim that you did a search? Ummmm... maybe you need a little help there. The thread you have started here has been beaten to death at least three times in the past.

On Page 1 of the PZEV Performance Chat forum, read "Millage [sic] Down" particularly the postings on the fifth page

On Page 2 of the PZEV Performance Chat forum, read "Gunning for the best MPG", all 3 pages of postings

On Page 5 of the PZEV Performance Chat forum, read "New gas mileage thread", all 6 pages of postings

Just my opinion, but I wish people would spend like 5 or 10 minutes looking for the information that is already here, versus starting a new thread.

I'm on my second tank also and its going to be around 300, more city driving than my first tank in which i got 359 miles on. When I filled my tank the second time I put 11.5 g in and the fuel light was on when I filled it. So i'm still falling into or over the city driving rating. As for people searching for what they want to know, yeah they probably should but we are all here to help each other, right. We don't need to complain because someone wants to get a personalized response. If everyone searched for what they wanted then they would probably find it and no posting would ever happen so this keeps things active.

Just my opinion, but I wish people would spend like 5 or 10 minutes looking for the information that is already here, versus starting a new thread.

If you spent more time reading the thread then you would of seen that after my first post i corrected myself about the 300mpg error. Sometimes you just gotta let things slide and not worry if it has been talked about. Looking at this thread it doesnít seem anyone minded posting again besides you!
Im not trying to start anything so donít get all upset , im just letting you know im not some newbie internet goat that just found out about internet forums and just started posting away.
I did do a search for what i thought would of been included in the threads to get my answer. What i found did not satisfiy me so i decided to start this one thats all. My car is new and i want to make sure everything is working the way it should be.just paranoid.
As for the rest , i drive about 500 miles a week all highway just to work and this last tank it has all highway miles and im still only seeing around 300 mile per tank of gas. Didnít know if that was the average but it seems the average varies a lot. I was hoping to get tons of miles out of a full tank.at least 350
I traded a 98 accord v6 and It use to cost me $25 to fill it and I would get like 360-370 out of it. I will have to let it go and keep track of it.

One note: How big was your Accord's tank? Because if it cost you $25 to fill the Accord, I live sort of near you and it costs me around $18 to fill (somewhere between the 1/4 and Low Fuel light). So if you're getting 300 on the Focus tank, the numbers make me think the Accord's tank was bigger (only 50-60 miles more), so you might be getting the same or higher MPG?
