Powerworks focus will tear a stock 350's ass a new one, ive run several.


you will have to get a good launch to beat him in the 1/8, but in the 1/4 you will still catch him by the 1000 ft mark even with a half-ass launch.

One 350 gave me a good race, he had some bolt ons and some manifold work done (so he says......), but I still got him by about 2 cars.

Agreed ^^^ That is the only way he will beat you, is traction issues. Otherwise, you should take him.

It also depends on what year 350z it is, the newer ones have over 300hp

depends on year and edition of the z, what kind of tires are both running, do you have a stock trans? lots of factors, have you worked on a launch with the pw?

I've smoke several in the 1/8th with a 75 shot but the silly gas works better on the short end. Traction is the key. The new 350 suspension is set up for corners not drag launches. They have to feather the clutch at 5-6K to keep it from bogging. Just a little too fast on the clutch and it spins. Its a real balancing act. If you can launch the focus he's toast. Most of the guys running 350s around here are in the low 9 to high 8 range with minor bolt ons in the 1/8.

The 350Z is an extremely fast car when driven properly. I wouldn't be so matter of fact about you beating him. It's definitely not guarenteed.

The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to second guess the situation. Well, some of our foci' are creating 300 + WHP, but they're getting to 60 in the mid to low 5's. The Z, particularly the Z with +/- 300 HP will be doing it in the mid to low 5's.

IT'S GONNA BE A DRIVERS RACE BIG TIME.

Mofocus: Practice your launch man. Practice it like you've never practiced anything before. At every red light you come to, practice launching all the way up to the speed limit (maybe a little quicker if you do look over your shoulder ). The Z has about the same gear ratio's as a focus. He'll be doing 32'ish in first, 58'ish in second...so you will have him in the gear ratio department since you can pull probably about 36 in first, 62 in second with the longer gears of the 5 speed focus.

I dunno man. Good luck with the race, but don't be utterly disappointed if it's really really close..or if you get beat by a hair.
