Zetec Intake and Headers

Ok ive got a 2001 SPI Focus that is pretty much the base model i mean the only luxary i got is AC but thats besides the point. I wanted to know if anyone has bought a zetec intake and put it in the SPI because i cant find any performance site that has anything to do with my SPI. The same question as well for headers. The only thing i have managed to do was take my stock air box off and replace it with an AEM cone filter. It sounds great but i want performance mods in my focus badly. Someone plez help.
Another question isnt the block on the zetec and the SPI the same because they are both 121ci? all they have is diffrent heads right? So doesnt that mean the headers would fit. The throttle body is the same as well right so that means the intake would fit too? Some one let me kno i need parts badly i have to be able to at least attempt to keep up with my friends 03 RSXtypes.

The intake will fit; you just have to get a reducer bushing at home depot to adapt it to your smaller throttle body (it is not the same size!). The header & throttle body are different due to different bolt patterns, there is no feasable way to get them to fit.

Someone has an SPI shorty header made by Focus Central on eBay right now, ending in a little over one day as of this reply. It's currently around $200. Get it now, because I can tell you; they don't come around often!

SOME older model escort parts work, and a few websites still sell SPI parts ... but not many, and there are in-stick issues. Check the forums for spare parts, I know I've found a few hard-to-find ones. (Scroll all the way to the top of this page; click "Classifieds")

Basically; all SPI parts are hard-to-find.

what's with all the SPI hatred lately? it's a well made engine, capable of a lot whether modded or not. I'm proud to have my SPI!

One thing I was always told " everything after BUT is bull shit"

Have you even looked in the "goodies list" thread, your not gonna find sites for performance parts for the SPI in mags or TV but there is a lot of info here about it.

Use the search I am SURE any question you have is coverd b/c they have all been beaten to death here. If its not covered try me, I am willing to bet an answer will be to you soon.

Jon

haha Zmill.. i'm in the same boat as you man. I cant find any headers to fit my SPI. As afr as the Intake goes. There are some universal kits on Ebay for as low as 50 bucks. i bought one and cut it to fit. You're going to have to buy some extra brackets and you might want to change out the elbow othet than rumbebr haha.

List of performance Mods I Personally Have for my SPI:

Long Tube Header (Bought in the Last month)
Injen Short Ram (Awaiting Install)
BDR 60mm Throttle Body
Focus Central 25% UDP
F2 Focus CAI (Currently Installed)
Focus Sport Upper Strut Bar
Short Shifter
Tachometer Cluster Guages
Side Skirts
Front Wings West Lip & Factory Rear Lip
Focus Sport Spark Plug Wires & NGK Iridium Plugs
Clear Corners & Clear OEM Grille
Painted Interior (White)

Buying In Next 6 Months: (Found & Waiting To Pay For)
Ford Racing SVT Suspension
MBRP Cat-Back Exhaust
Custom Flex Pipe for SPI
Window Tint
New Rims (Motegi 6 Spoke Black/Chrome) & Tires

That sure does sound to me like a lot of Modifications & parts for the SPI ... and I should mention I bought the car used & un-modded in The Summer of 2005...

Yea but how much altering of the parts did you have to do before you got it to fit on the SPI? I mean wouldnt it be nice just if your parts would fit...?

It was nice, because they all fit, perfectly. The Aforementioned parts are all made for the SPI specifically. The only ones that are interchangable with a Zetec are intakes, because all you have to do is either cut the elbow @ the throttle body or push it down & clamp it good. Everything else is made for the SPI engine, no modification required.
