our project car... Kia...introduction.

Browsed the site for a bit and had the time to register today. I used to driver a focus sedan years ago. Never cared for it, but I do like the SVT's, much more fun to drive.

I will have a few new things on our site soon for the SVT once it goes live. Our main focus is the underdog in aftermarket, Kia's and other applications.

Anyway figured many wouldn't mind seeing something different, heres our project 2002 Kia Spectra GS.

Come warmer weather the coilovers will go in and powder coat the wheels, along with this front bumper. (these are PS'd)

Runs mid 14's @ 97mph. Last run was with these 17s and street tires, horribly slipping stock clutch(@ 110k miles) and ran 14.93 @ 97. New clutch goes in the spring, along with coilovers, other suspension goodies. I plan to use a set of DR during this next season. looking for a 14.0 with slicks, but we'll see.

1.8L DOHC
stock block, stock 9.5:1 compression, stock valve-train with rev limit raised from 6500 to 7400.
Though i can go close 8k with the stock valve train, just need a new modded ECU or put the Megasquirt in.

Important motor mods are:

Custom Intake
63mm Throttle body
P/P Intake manifold and Head
Colt Cams (268/268 330 lift)
4-1 header
2.25-2.5" exhaust
lightweight crank pulley
7400rpm rev limit
no A/C (stock)
removed PS

S-AFC2 and Wideband O2 are in, but still needs a good tune. So no dyno #s yet. Track numbers are more important than dyno #s for comparing.
Thats about it for the motor, so plenty of room to still mmod N/A, though the spare motor will be boosted. Plenty of room to work with.

I've never been impressed with Kia's - ever. BUT this car I am impressed with, Nice ride, and I like everything about it, inside was slick, outside looks mean and the engine looks like it has had some real wrench time put into it. I've seen a stock 1.8L in a Kia and they look a lot different they what you've got cooking under that hood. Nice job.
