and there is a loud "thunk" everytime i hit a bump. its really hard to look cool in front of the other tuners when you have sound effects coming from your car's suspension.

well the thunk is most likely your coilovers, to stop them from making noise, weld them to your new koni shocks to the perch. to fix it, wait til u get...i see u say dropzone coilovers, but tein springs in your sig?

anyway...back to fixing, wait til u get your koni's. then when your swapping over and everything is apart, throw on the new tops

i just ordered my teins on thursday. and the sig says that i awaiting my konis. sorry for the mix up. right now i have dropzone springs (not the coilovers)

but its the strut top making the noise? does that come with the koni shocks when i order them or is that something to puchase on its own?

Hi there,

We own a Focus 1.6 Ghia Sedan and we live in the netherlands.

We're dealing with the same problem, only at the right front.
I just took the wheel off and moved some parts. Then the noise
was present as I moved the part as described here! And that
even before I went to this site.

Well, seems to be that the problem is well known, strange that
the mecanic at the Ford workshop couldn't find it and said it was
99% sure the upper bearing of the suspension. So he's wrong.

We'll goto the same workshop again on Monday and I will tell
them what causes it and then let them solve this problem.

Nice to hear from other Focus drivers!!

Jaga,

Keep me posted on the outcome. I've got the exact same problem coming from the right hand front wheel area. Steering makes a crackling noise but I cannot pinpoint where it comes from. Unfortunately my arms are not long enough to steer and listen . And it's a diesel also.......not much chance on hearing anything.

Also a Sedan 2000 model BTW.

Arend

Laat me even weten wat het was als je het hebt gevonden.

We got rid of the problem!

I took a wheel of and moved some parts. I ended on the stabilizer-arm
which is connected to one side the stabilizer (which is under the engine
and goes from left to ride side of the car) and the other side to the
suspension. It's a little part of about 20 cm with at the ends a 'moving screw'.
I asked Ford to replace this part and it was 15 minutes work for the mechanic.
We paid about 77 EUR for it. Expensive for such a small part, but the problem
has been solved now!

I hope this English explanation is clear, but Arend: you may write me an
in Dutch too jaga@hetnet.nl ! Or even a call, but I'm not giving the
phonenumber here. So email me first pls.

Gr,

Jaga
