Angry problem?????????

i have a problem with my 02 svtf. i have taken my POS to the dealership manys times for the same problem and yet they can not fix it. i have just recently taken it in and they have had it for 3 weeks and all they replaced was the alternator. when my car gets up to normal operating temperature the rpm's move very erractically. a couple of times my battery indicator light has come on. and a majority of the time the car stalls out and it is very hard to start if at all. when it stays running just under normal driving conditions (between 4-4500 shift change) when i shift into neutral and come to a stop my rpm's drop to 7-800 and then they drop to 4-500 and then back to 7-800. i also notice at highways speeds (70-80) my car pulses or jerks and its not all the time. i also notice at night when nothing is on just with the car running there is no surging, but when you turn the headlights on they surge and the fog lights there is more of a surge and the radio just adds to the problem.

when i got my car back and they told me that all they replaced was the alternator i was pissed off. i have been on the phone constantly with svt and they seem to be of no help to just about anyone period.

this morning i got up and i figured i would just look at my car and i popped the hood and i looked at my battery. now maybe i am stupid but i thought that when a battery was good the indicator on the battery would be green. when i looked at my battery it was red. i tested the battery with the car running and i get 13.8 volts which in my experience with cars is normal. when my car was at the dealership they told me that the battery died but they charged it back up.

my question to some is have they experienced any of these problems and what they can tell me to help me get this car fixed. i would appreciate it if only those who respond to this tread know what they are talking about. no offense but sometimes when i read other posts some people i wonder how they get gas in there cars. any information would be greatly appreciated.

I do not own an SVTF, however I have alot of the same problems you do. Just not to the same level. I get a serging problem when the lights are on with the radio, if I hit the rear window defroster you can really see a differance. Also when at a stop the RPM's act real weird, not all the time but it does happen. It acts like it's going to stall out but then at the last minute it goes back up to normal.
From what you have done to this point it sounds like the battery is charging 13.8 sounds right to me also. And if the alt has been replaced it should be working right. There are a couple of things that you might want to check out just for trouble shooting. First Start the car up and disconnect the battery. If the Alt is working the car will keep running. Battery isn't needed to run the car after it's started. I had a similar problem with an Escort GT I had. I replaced the ALt/regulator and battery and still had the same problem. It ended up that the bolt that was used to tighten the belt wasn't holding it tight enough. So at higher RPM's the belt would slip just a little which would create the alt to produce less power so after a week or so with a new battery the car would be dead again.
I guess after you determine that the battery is good and the Alt/regulator is good then the belt would be next even if it seems like a small chance.
Also there has been other threads about this problem in the past. The answer from Ford was faulty eletrical system. And short of replacing all the cars eletrical they couldn't fix it. I guess they havn't found the exact problem. I hope this gives you something to go on. But you really got a tough problem.

i dont mean to criticize but i learned to test the alternator like that in third grade. like i said i would like for people to respond who know what they are talking about. once again no offense i am just at my wits end with this car and they last thing that i need is for other people to waist their time giving information that is not quite useful. another piece of advice it would be appreciated if people who would respond had an svtf so that they might be able to relate.

If I knew anything about this I wouldn't tell you. Someone tries to offer a little help not knowing if you tried soemthing or not and you respond like this? You can say you don't mean to criticize all you want, but you still come off like jerk to me.

I don't mean to criticize you though.

Sorry man didn't mean to piss you off but I was just trying to help you out. I feel that I do have and idea of what I'm talking about. Don't appreciate being told that I don't. If the info I gave you was allready done then just say that and move on. Most of the time the problem is something that was simple and over looked. I doubt you'll get a responce that's going to help you out with that type of adittude. You have a total of 10 posts, not a good start in making friends. IMO

I understand how you feel. Like I was saying there is a thread out there that talked about your issue. Does anyone have the link for MichaelMcMahan?
