03 ZX3, upgrading sound system, opinions?

Hey guys,

Got a 03 ZX3 with premium sound installed, thinking of getting a Pioneer 6800 with eclipse 5x7 speakers

What do you guys think?

Looking at buying/instaled from circuit city, suggestions? Problems? Any idea on compatibility without buying an amp?

Thanks for advice,

Tim

look around on the net. you can find cheaper prices. you can do the install yourself to save even more. check out your parts on ikesound.com. they are a little cheaper, and with the extra cash you can buy yourself the wiring harness, and the din kit from crutchfield.com

Price isn't issue so much for me, since I'm getting 25% off and free install.

It's more of "quality"

I almost bought both of those... The deck is nice, but they are easy to put in yourself... you can find cheaper prices as archie said. And an even better deck which I bought and Eclipse deck and put it in for 300 dollars. And I have upper range Infinity speakers, soon to be upgraded to components, but those speakers sound nice... eclipse is a nice company and makes very nice things.

The frist deck I ever owned was an pioneer... that is also another great mid ranged company. So go for it if you have hte money, or if you just shop around online, you'll find things cheaper

Quality what? Install? Circuit City? Don't think so. Normally I'd always suggest a professional install but from a car audio expert, you won't ever fond one of those at CC or BB etc.

You get what you pay for so just how good is that "free" install going to be?

I agree with installman. I regret ever having CC touch my car, because I have redone everything they did to my car, from the amps to the decks, to the speakers. CC is pretty much a bunch of morons and I much rather do anything to my car anymore.

well, fisrt off... ive never had any experience with circuit, but i know their installers arent all that great... ive heard of them haing major problems with cars, and the knowledge isnt there, but it depends on the store i guess..

i myself work for best buy, and i work in the car audio department, so i know a decent ammount of stuff...

i HIGHLY reccommend pioneer, because as far as soound quality goes, their one of the best...

the 6800 model is a very nice unit, and has an aux in on the bottom of the face for an ipod or p3 player...

good choice there...

as far as the speakers... i would reccmmend getting alpine type s, or type r speakers...

i hae the type s's in my car, and the quality is great...

you can pick up the type s's at best buy for about 104.99 a pair

hey hey... it depends on the store...

i work in the car audio department at best buy... and the guys that do the installs are great, and are all AT LEAST MECP certified... two out of the four are ase certified mechanics also...

it really depends on the store you go to, thats all..

Yeah, don't go to circuit city, I've heard so many horror stories...

I would say read LOTS of reviews on everything before you buy... That's what I always do, and ask questions, on what is good and if 'this and that' will be good pairs. I have an Eclipse headunit and then Infinity running everything else, two amps, speakers and all. They all sound great. Pioneer is a good company, that was on of the first decks I bought. I love my sound system...
