Unhappy Foci Depression

SO I've gotten my exaust on, and I figured "Hey why not look into getting a Dyno to see what my work has gotten me so far, or even maybe a performance tune."

I arrived at the "Johnny's Automotive" to talk shop and my only local auto tuner said, "Well If your not going Turbo, then there's nothing else you can really do to your car performance wise or tuning wise that will actually matter.....you should get a Datsun."

I was like "What!"

So what can I do that will still make my car go faster without going turbo?

This is what I've done so far:

AEM Short Ram Intake
Focus Sport Plug Wires
Bousch 4+1 Spark Plug Wires
JBA Shorty Exaust Header
Borla 2.25 Flexpie
Focus Sport Stealth Exaust....

I've lost the will to mod...

(The Datsun thing was no joke...)

By which he meant- it's easier to put a V8 in an old Datsun than it is to put one in a FWD car.

Yeah, start saving up for one of Tom's turbo kits. In the end you'll sell the header, but have 100+ more hp.

turbo will be the best route... as far as HP per dollar is concerned...

But before all of that, over-hauling the tranny with a new clutch, and LSD will just make it all the better.

um, the guy at that shop has no freaken idea what hes talking about, theres so much more you can do. First you should get a Hi-flow cat b/c your stock one will go to crap very soon with that shorty header on it. Get a 65mm TB too, itll help your atxs reaction time, throttle wise i mean, slam on the gas and there lag ya know. Also definitly get a tune, especially since you have an atx, not only will it help release any extra power your making, you basically have a stage 1 setup and itll help those mods work together better. Also tunes like SCT's will help out with shift points on the atx, which will also help your car go faster. Then obviously you can get into cams, cam gears and engine internals after you got the basic bolt ons and a tune.

Datsun.....thats one of the stupids things ive ever heard

I'm not sure if you have the Zetec motor or not. Im not sure about which sedan models have it, but I'd suggest pistons/rods, cams, and get the head ported for an NA motor. In the end it's probably going to cost as much or more than a turbo setup.

But with my limited knowledge on these motors, I'm pretty much talking out of my ass. It may not be as effective as what I've seen with the Honda motors my friend builds. Either way it won't be as fast as a turbo, obviously, but it might be what your looking for?
