:STRIP: First time in the quarter

Last weekend was my first time running the quarter mile in the SVTf. I pulled the ABS/TC fuse, set the tires to 29psi front and 40psi rear, and removed the spare and jack. Only mods are an AEM CAI and Screamin Demon coil with wires (not much of a mod there, really). I changed the plugs and oil a few days before running, also. Temperature was 45F with ~10mph tailwind. I averaged around 15.6 but my best time was a 15.309 with a good launch and shifting very fast.

What I'm curious about is how people are getting 2.1, 2.0 etc 60' times on these cars. I would surely be in the low to mid 15.2 range with that kind of launch.

And here's a couple pics just for kicks:

just curious as to why you have ses wheels on back. Pretty good time though. and it looks like the guy next to you got as bit antsy, lol.

One of my Toyos had a slow leak and the other got the sidewall ripped by a pothole. Those are two of my winter wheels on the back. LOL

The guy next to me was an automatic Focus, but something went wrong at launch putting the car into limp mode.

The problem I'm having is figuring out how I got such a good time with only an average 60'.

You did better than my first time at the track. Good runs.

nice times. those 60' are good, but i've been told that for every .1 you shave off your 60' is about .2 - .4 off your 1/4 mile time. that temp must be so nice to drive in, its still 84 degrees down here in South Florida

I think it's the opposite... every .1 you shave off the 60' is like .05 off the quarter. Something like that.

Do you guys stay in 3rd or shift to 4th? And what PSI do you run in the tires?

The guys writing those editorials aren't the best drivers, really. Some bone-stock SVTf's have hit 15.1, I believe. I wouldn't say I'm the best driver out there, but I can shift those gears pretty damn quick! I really need to work on my launch, because it seems like a fair amount of people have done 2.0-2.2 60' on our cars.

nice times but i would have put the 16 on the front and 17 on the rear. better traction and a bit lighter.
