Question JRSC Whine Missing?!?

It is extremely subtle from inside the car. Almost non existent. You have to try to listen for it. I have the stock airbox, left the small side snorkle in, and K&N filter.

Do I have a vacuum leak? Any other observations/opinions?

I listen to all these videos with the JRSC kits and you hear that marvelous roots blower whining. Its even louder with the BBK. I have the BBK and I barely get any. My brother didnt hear it inside an explorer when i was racing around.

I do realize that a lot of people have a SRI with their blower which will really allow it to sound loud. Anybody with the stock box willing to chime in?

Thanks

Tim

Hey Tim -

I've got the same set-up on my '02. Also using the stock airbox with OEM paper filter, but removed the mini-snorkel. Fabbed a cold air intake that tucks in behind the grill, so the inlet is much bigger. I can hear the whine quite well, from both inside and outside the car. Of course, having removed the insulation blankets from under the hood and the firewall probably helps...

I had an SRI on mine at one time, and yes it was loud. But the FRPP tune didn't like it, so I went back to the recommended stock intake.

ok...so i could remove the snorkle with for sound and not hurt the frpp tuning. I would be interested in getting a write up for your cai for the mini snorkle. Any pics?
