Contisport continentals vs. Falken Ziex'

When I bought my SVT, it came with the original tires. They had about 15% of the tread remaining, which was surprising for a car with 25,000 miles. Anyways, I really like the look and stance of the Continentals.

But since I had 17" rims on my other focus, I decided to have my Falken Ziex tires taken off those rims and put on my SVT since they still have plenty of tread remaining.

Anyways, I noticed that the Continentals seem to have a wider stance. I did a little bit of comparing between the two, and people seem to really like the Falkens a lot. I like them, and I have no complaints about the way they handle, but I really like the wide stance of the Continentals.

They should be the exact same size, right? What's the deal with this. Is it because the Ziex are "Z" rated that they look skinnier?

^^^You're just seeing the variances between manufacturers and tire types. It's extremely common.
The stated "size" is basically the "generic" equivalent for comparison purposes.
You have good eyes.

are they both a 215/45 or maybe the tires are actually different sizes? You could have replaced your stock Focus tires with 205 Falkens, which would explain why the 215 Contis look wider: cus they are

Or the "other" Focus may be using 215/40R17; thats supposed to be a better OEM match than 45's for non-SVTs, correct? They wouldnt be necessarily much narrower, but less sidewall would definitely make it look less, meaty.

Section width is not equal to tread width.

Section with is basically the tire size..

tread width is the actual tread.

Both sets of tires are 215 45R 17"s

The conti's, however, are not Z rated. The Falkens are.
