Venting Crankcase Problems

So, for about the last 8 months, I've been chasing a simple and effective way to reroute the PCV system. My first setup, was a first design Jay Racing plate, and some brass fittings (which necked down = Bad) and a rubber hose vented to the atmosphere. It worked, but blew oil everywhere.

Second setup, is a second generation Jay's plate, with deflector, and a 90* 1/2NPT -> -10AN Earl's hose (3 feet) and then ran to the atmosphere again. But even with the deflector, my car blows oil everywhere under the car. Even at speed on the highway, I was seeing oil film on the back of the car, and on the rear springs, it would spray that far. Now my question is, what is there left to do?

Go back to stock? Catch-can setup?

run it to a catch can, as well as the cam cover, then find a vaccum source to attach the catch can to. This has worked on Shauns zx2, he's dyno'ing in the mid 300's. I can find pictures if you want...

Yea, I figured I'd have to do a catch can. I have my sights on this one as of now.

But if you want to inis, pics always help.

I am still venting to atmosphere, Tom made up a little part that has a fitting and runs down under the car, never get much of anything out, I have a catch can should I ever go that route, I think if I were you I would get a can!

The gen 2 Jay plate helps some but many are still having issues with blowing out oil

Dont take the block PCV off unless you have to , what I do is cut it up some so the Ford design is still working where it can dump the oil back into the engine that gets thrown out and still let the air out

Also keep in mind that oil is MUCH heavier then air and having the oil line and fitting go UP vs pointing down , this gives the oil a chance to run back into the engine vs collecting in the low spots in the oil line

Tom

I have the JR plate and after I made doubly sure that everything was going upward into my catch can (so gravity helps drain the oil), I really dont get all that much oil in the can.

mine is angled about the same as roushturboedzx3

So what is the best way to get oil from not collecting into the catch can with the plate. I ran mine car for 10 min and my catch can filled up with oil however it was hooked up to a vac source. Would venting to atomsphere help reduce this since my line is almost angled like roushturboedzx3's.

i dunno, i have vac on my can, no problems really. The trick seems to be you have to make sure the lines all go uphill into the can. I was having problems before when I had it kind of straight across then down a bit then up, but once i made it all go up i dont get that much oil.
