Warn your 1.6L engine friends about more issues

My engine overheated after the recall fix. Trying to spread the word to other 2013 Escape/Fusion owners.

Here is a link to my detailed post.

......brought in for a software update?

Are engine thermostats now so advanced that they are controlled by software?

Or are they still a 'mechanical device' and the software update recall was/is for radiator fan control?

I thought the software update seemed a bit strange. I was thinking that the engineers couldn't figure out what was wrong and they did this to seem like they fixed something.

I thought the thermostats were mainly mechanical?

Don't remember 100%, but I think Chevy had/has electronic thermostats. So it is not entirely far fetched. Pop the hood, study the thermostat housing. That will tell you for sure.

I see no reason to leave this open.
1 problem is not an epidemic.
FordCustomerService seems to be on the case ...

Focis have problems with the engine temp sensor. Sometimes it will fail so that engine temp will appear to be normal for 5-10 mins, then suddenly overheat. This has cost some people a lot of money in diagnosis because their mechanics don't double check the sensor's temp readings. I've seen about 4 on here like that. It is possible that programming could lead to similar issues.

If I'm getting a 1.6EB, it will be in a Fiesta.
