I've been looking at painting the nozzles and roof trim as well, it did it with Plastidip first to get a feel for the look. I have a second set of nozzles now as I was replacing them anyway, one was leaking. As for the roof trim, there seems to be some sort of coating on them, almost a rubber coating on them, did you remove this before painting?

A friend and I will be. He has done retrofits before so we should be able to handle it.

But if not I have spare headlights.

It's hard to say since it'll be a little different to get yours painted; my rear valance had to be smoothed (since the parts are textured from the factory) but the skirts didn't since they're ST parts. My paint is also more expensive than some being a tri-stage. I saved some money on labour but spent more on paint. I also made separate trips over the course of some time, so more money would have been saved had all parts been dropped off at once.

I'd say as a rough range estimate expect few to several hundred. Shops can vary a lot too.

The painter was concerned about the coating on the roof rails but they were prepped and painted as-is, and they came out great. The other owner I know of who did this made no mention of any special preparations when I asked him how it was to paint them.

ST skirts vs SE

It's hard to tell in pictures, but how much "thicker" are the side skirts from an ST than our stock SE ones? I was thinking about just popping all 4 of mine off (both sides, front and back) and hauling them into the local body shop to have him paint those. They look about the same to me as the STs (based on where they line up with the wheel). Figured I'd save a bunch of money that way.

The ST's stick out at least an inch further in a number of spots. There's quite a substantial difference between the two, not just in size.

I've never measured so I'm not sure exactly, but much of the difference is in the profile of them. The standard skirts curve under the car right away, whereas the ST pieces are more squared off.

Painting the stock pieces is a great improvement though, so I recommend it.

Thank you! An engine swap isn't ruled out but no time soon. At the end of the day the car is still the daily driver and during the summer at least I can't afford major downtime with it - nor can I afford the price tag of an ST engine when there's so much else that could be done with the money.

Right after the cup spoilers, eglove and I made up a small splitter to mount underneath as a finishing touch.

Yes, it's low.
Yes, it scrapes.
No, I don't care.

We had to have it done in a hurry for a photoshoot, so we didn't document the process. It's very simple though, nothing more than 1/4" ABS cut to shape, with rubber tubing along the front edge to clean it up.
