Smile Suspension squeak

Hi there, first time I've posted anything anywhere, hope I'm doing it right! I was lucky enough to purchase a 2001 Street Edition wagon a couple months ago. It's in excellent shape and only has about 30,000 kilometers (about 20,000 miles). No mods planned, I'm a bit old for that stuff, although my son might want to!

One small problem...a light but anoying squeak in the rear suspension, silicon lube corrects but only lasts a day or 2. Do I need to replace the stabalizer bushings or is there another good fix anyone could suggest? Thanks!!

From one old Doug to another.....

As far as the squeak, I'd like to know as well.
My SVTF has the same problem after driving on the dusty roads around here.
The noise appears to be coming from the inboard bushings on the lower control arms.
The only cure I've found, which might last around 2 weeks,
is to get underneath with a hose/nozzle, and clean everything off really good.
A more permanent solution would sure be nice.
I'm not quite at the point to take it into the Dealer....yet.

I've never had to do this but if silicon spray works for a while, I'd try forcing some silicon brake grease into the bushings with a q-tip or screw driver blade.

I just put my H&R cup kit on yesterday...it's squeaky on all four corners...drives fine though, so we'll see if it quiets down

Thanks for the input, Pass side only, seems to be the bushing that supports the stabalizer. Should be the same set up as your S2 if it is still stock as I believe it also has the European suspension set up, does that have anything to do with it maybe? Or maybe the car hasn't been driven enough with the low mileage on it?

Love the car though, I bought it because I wanted to be "practical" and I resisted the urge to get a Taurus/Sable Durtatec. My wife already has a Sable with the Duratec and it has been a great car. My last car was a Taurus Wagon. The Focus is not as fast as my wife's car but very fun to drive, now we often take out my "economy" car and leave the Sable at home!

Yeah mine only squeaks on the drivers side back. Just curious cause mine started up after I got my Eibachs on. I think the spring might not be seated against that flange properly.

Anyway, it shouldn't be an issue with the european suspension package, mine was perfectly fine until I got my new lowering springs on. It only squeaks for me on 'huge' bumps or when my car is 4 passengers full.

Annoying so I know what you guys are going through...... could very well be the bushings......
