Driver side door lock problem - Requires a locksmith

I have my car Ford fiesta 2004 and i'm facing a problem with my driver side door lock. The problem is that the driver side key turns in the lock but does not activate to unlock. IF anyone is familiar with this kind of issue plzz suggest me ways to get rid of this. Thanks in advance.........

does it feel like the key is connected to the internals - when you turn it is there resistance - or is it just flippy free?

There may be a plastic clip that broke off. On my son's Mustang, he has the same problem. There is a rod the connects the lock cylinder to the door lock. Put the window down and try to look at the bottom of the door with a flashlight. See if there's any loose plastic pieces there. You may want to remove the door panel if you can't see from the top. I see it's a Fiesta so I'm not sure if it's the same door trim procedure.

Yeah, the lock moves a metal rod. That rod is probably fallen off/a broken bit which holds the rod in place.
You need to take off the inside door panel to fix it.
