No acceleration, check engine light on, no codes, won't reset.

Hi,

I was wondering if you guys on this excellent forum could give me some help.

I have a 2007 Focus and the Check Engine Light on and very poor performance, acceleration wise, from the car - no strange noises, just no power.

Thankfully I have a OBD II reader but this came back with no codes, and initially with I/M as YES but after a few rescans is coming back with no codes and I/M as NO.

I can find lots of information relating to codes (but have none coming up) but hardly any on I/M status.

I have tried to clear the "codes" to try and clear the check engine light but this makes no difference and still a noticable reduction in power.

Any ideas or suggestions greatfully received, as it's now the weekend and no garages open until Monday, and I need to get to the fire station tomorrow to work, so need to know if it's safe enough to drive without becoming a customer of my own work!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Matt

Hey, welcome to the forum! Just so we can have a bit more info, was this a gradual loss of power? Or was there an incident that caused it? Do you recall any circumstances that may have led to possible engine damage? And have you performed a tune up recently? Oil, spark plugs, etc... Let us know!

Thanks for your response.

No gradual loss of power, seemed to notice the error message then the loss of power.

No incident that I know of that would cause it. I can't think of any circumstances that may have led to possible engine damage, I did have it serviced (including oil change) about 2 weeks ago.

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks

Matt

If the check engine light is on with no codes, I'd be pointing my finger at the PCM. But I would definitely verify that before coughing up the dough for a new one.
