Surging / Hesitation

I own a 2010 Focus with 58K miles on it. I have owned it from new. I am now noticing a subtle hesitation / surging when the vehicle is at speed and under no load... In other words, driving on the freeway where it is flat, smooth and level. I initially noticed it while the cruise was on but then determined it acted the same without the cruise on.

The car is well maintained with oil and filter changes. I posted this issue earlier and it was suggested that I change the plugs. Did that and there is no improvement.

Took it to Russ Milne Ford and as expected... "No problem found". My disappointment in car dealership service departments CANNOT be put into words. This looks like an issue that I am going to have to try to figure out myself (Along with finding another dealership to do business with for future new car purchases).

So... Are there any suggestions on things I might try myself??? PCV,EGR etc???

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Check your vacuum lines for holes, and i would get your battery load tested and its connections checked out. Do you have a check engine light on?

No lights. Took it to the dealer and they found "No Problem". Seems to act up more when first started cold. Seems to a delay between accelerator and acceleration (hesitation) before it warms. Solving the issue would take time and I am sure the dealership does not want to waist their time.

Well I'm not too familiar with the newer focus, hopefully someone with experience with them can help you out, I'm surprised I'm the only one with input actually.. you can also check all your wire connections if you haven't already. Best of luck figuring this out if I can think of something else ill let you know

Hi dckotwicki,

Send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name; I'll look into some options to assist.

Crystal
