04 SVTF: What is this part called?
On a 2004 SVTF, mounted to the driver's side of the engine block , in front of and below the coil pack, there is a housing with a sensor on top. Coolant lines run in and out of it. What is the name of this part?
I think I might have a leak coming from beneath it. After the engine cools, there is a small amount of fluid beneath that area. Anyone ever experience this? Thanks for the assist. |

Thermostat housing.
This leak is common, it comes from a plug on the bottom front that doesnt quite seal right. You can get a viton o-ring that will fix the issue, or you can call steve at Tousley Ford and he will hook you up with a contour housing. Its about $50 but it replaces the whole housing and fixes the problem. Link for your reference: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...rmostat+o-ring They're Viton -203 Viton O-Ring, 75A Durometer, Black, 5/16" ID, 9/16" OD, 1/8" Width.

It's a fairly easy project too.
But just make sure: - your engine is cooled down - you are on a flat surface - you have something to catch all of the coolant that will drain out - And that you have a new bottle of coolant to put in. I'd say it should take you 30mins - an hour, depending on your mechanical skills, and how dirty you get ... lol. ... oh, and whether or not you are drinking a bit while working. Hey some of us enjoy a beer or 2 while working on the car. ![]() Ray

I had the same problem. Picked up the whole housing from Orileys for 45ish bucks. Only took an hour or so to change it.

A thumbs up for the thermostat kit from Tousley. You need to buy a screw in plug for the bottom of the housing from a hardware shop. Fits nice.
