2001 2.0 SPI Head timing help

My wife has a 01 Focus. It dropped a valve seat. I tore into it and no bottom end damage, I was lucky. I installed a new re-manufactured head. The bottom end is at TDC but the head I am not sure was not in time from the vendor (O'rilley). Also is this an interference motor will I jack it up by starting it this way?

I have lined up the mark on the head and the crank. Is there anything else to do besides that? Keep in mind this is a new head.
Thanks.

If the cam & crank are lined up to their proper marks, install the belt then crank it around a couple times for a double check B4 installing plugs & firing it up.

Single cam SPI is simple to time, it's just nice to check things before closing it up completely.

Cheers!

ya take a wrench and turn the crank around a couple times. i believe it is like to TDC twice and check to make sure everything lines up and there is no metal hitting inside when you turn it.

after that it should be good to fire up if everything was done correctly.

So I made sure the timing marks were good and I cannot turn the crank over all the way. What could it be a rod. It will go about 2/3 of the way around. It stops and is stuck it is definitely not the compression. This feels bound up.

I just replaced the head on my 2002 SPI and bumped into the same "binding" when I tried to turn the crankshaft pulley by hand (clockwise, the direction of rotation.) The timing was off. I made the mistake of not setting the cam and crank to TDC before torquing down the head (Oops!). Thankfully an easy fix: I just loosened the rocker arm bolts all the way so the springs kept all the valves closed, re-set the crank and cam to TDC, re-torqued the rocker arms and was good to go.

Just curious -- how did you set the cam and crank (especially the crank) to TDC?
